The power of human empathy, when fully explored as a science, has the potential to cross over a wide spectrum. Its implications and potential to influence various fields of endeavor are enormous. With that should come more research into its antagonist. What happens when we fail to receive even the most basic empathy that we expect or require? What happens when we not only look for empathy and are rejected but when empathy is consistently replaced with mockery, silence and degradation? How are any of these effects altered by long-term repetition?
